Suicide Station!
via the Sydney Morning Herald:
MOSCOW: A new metro station named after the famously gloomy Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky has opened in Moscow despite fears it could attract suicides. The station, called Dostoyevskaya, is decorated with brooding grey and black mosaics that depict violent scenes from the 19th-century writer’s best-known novels. One mural re-enacts the moment when the...

Another noisy day
The people who hang out on the street in front of my apartment all day long have been listening to a spanish-language version of the song “Stand By Me” on repeat for hours. The weird part is “Darling, darling, stand by me” is in english, but the rest is in spanish. I guess nobody knew how to translate that part.
Anyway, I am moving in two weeks and I will miss these...
Cat people get more embarrassing
In yesterday’s times (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/17/garden/17catio.html) there was an article telling us about the rise of “Catios”; CAT PATIOS. Aparently people convert balconies and patios into fenced-in areas for their cats, so mr. bubbles can get some fresh air without accidentally falling off.
Give me a break, I cant even be funny about this it’s so weird.

Fun with Names and Bitches!
I like looking around at the website nameberry occasionally. Even though it’s ostensibly a resource for baby names, it actually has interesting articles on the shifting popularity of names over time. I was just looking through one piece on Victorian-era nicknames to see if there were any that applied to me. Ones for Caroline include Lolo, Caddie, Callie, Lena, and Orolia (wtf?). I want to be...

A New Sport, Everybody!
Last night I had a dream that I was at a yankees/red sox game and the red sox were batting with a regular baseball, but the yankees had to bat against a lobster being pitched at them. And then there was a sort of basketball hoop located somewhere in the outfield, and if the batter could get any pieces of the lobster through the hoop, they scored a run. At this point I would like to reiterate that...
My life is so humiliating
I’ll basically do anything for money that doesn’t involve waking up early in the morning, which is how I found myself with the ridiculous job of driving this woman’s dog to upstate New York in exchange for $75, plus gas and tolls. The dog apparently needed some vacation time, so it was going to hang out with its trainer for a while. I was instructed not to look at or talk to the...
